I love your concept and think it must be such a pleasant surprise to come upon one of your frames unexpectedly in the forest and then I think of the instant desire to locate the others. You should have some kind of charted path or map! Can't wait to catch glimpse of my first one as I hear some are closer to home ie. Museum of Civilization. Keep up the great work!

I am super excited to share with you my latest adventure of hanging framed landscape pictures in trees around Ottawa and Gatineau. I'm totally in love with the idea of bringing exterior objects indoors, and interior objects outdoors, especially when the objects in question relate, in some way, to nature. I'm not entirely sure why this idea fascinates me so much; I think it might have to do with the fact that as a gardener and landscape architect I spend so much of my time manipulating nature to do exactly what I want it to do. We humans spend an awful lot of energy (and money) on fabricating our surroundings, even so called natural ones. OK, so that's enough about the why, you're probably wondering where! So far I have focused on recreational areas: Gatineau Park and outside the Museum of Civilization.
I'm really hoping to have some feedback from people who stumble upon them so I taped my card and website address on the back of the picture frames. There's only one minor problem with this clever little plan of mine-- people are far too polite to actually take down the pictures thus they never see my name or contact info. I assumed the first hiker to pass my lovely little photo would immediately snatch it and take it home. Instead he took a picture of the picture and then continued on his way! I'm ok with this unexpected turn of events, though, and I'm excited to see how things progress...

I love it its a great idea... did you leave the frames there?
when ever I go for walks with my dogs in the woods, I always get this sense of home... and how we live in a society that doesn't extend the idea of whats home to the beautiful forests around them.. although people in Gatineau are much more open to this concept and take pride in being so surrounded by nature, I have found, its still something that no longer exits in our thoughts... any ways I really love... very thought provoking...
and did you purposely put images of nature in the frames?
laters!

Yup the frames are still up there. The landscape images are intentional. When it comes to "art" photography (some) people tend to think of pretty nature or landscape pictures so I'm constantly trying to subvert that idea. Thanks for your comment!
